Re-import applies when a pet was taken out of India and is being brought back into India. AQCS guidance states that when going on a short trip abroad, an AQCS export health certificate should be taken, and when the pet enters India again it will be treated as re-import.
For re-import of dogs, AQCS guidance refers to the earlier veterinary health certificate for export issued by AQCS India as part of eligibility. For cats also, AQCS mentions the earlier export certificate issued by AQCS India under the re-import process.
Pet parents travelling abroad temporarily with pets should plan both sides of the journey: export from India and return to India. A missing export health certificate or return documentation can create difficulties at the time of re-entry.
Felcan can assist with re-import planning for dogs and cats returning to India after short stays abroad.
